We march, along with other peace and social justice activists, in the Martin Luther King Jr. Parade in downtown San Diego. This parade, which celebrates the birthday of one of America’s finest proponents of peace and social justice, now includes both peace and justice groups, as well as many military and government law enforcement groups, somewhat unexpected in a parade honoring Dr. King. We enjoy participating in this parade and feel called to be there to balance the recent shift in participation to military/law enforcement groups with so little in common with Dr. King and his goals.
