Each August 6th, we join the San Diego peace community in its observance of the date that the first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan. Hiroshima Day, usually held downtown or near the USS Midway, provides an opportunity for speakers from many of the local peace organizations to be heard, and we often provide one or more members as speakers. Additionally, we have, on occasion, set up our Arlington West Memorial near the event, to remind those present that wars and the overall costs of war continue to this day.
